Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Henderson Hawks have been added to its record-setting expansion teams for the upcoming season that begins in November. “We are very excited to have Marcus Mooney and his team as part of the ABA,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “Henderson is part of the Las Vegas Metro area and is one of the fastest growing cities in the US. A perfect fit and certainly an exciting new team.”
Mr. Mooney is a US Army veteran who has been a Nevada resident for 17 years coaching and training players for the last 15 years in high school, AAU and the ABA. “I started using basketball as a deterrent for gang activity when I was a teen director at a local community center,” added Mooney. “I found the young men stopped fighting and started working with each other. That’s when I started Athletic Mentoring Progam (AMP) which has grown into a platform for young men to go to college and to stay focused on their academics. The program has been a tremendous success and has helped change many lives. We are very excited to be a part of the ABA and certainly appreciate the tremendous support from the Henderson community.” For more information,visitwww.hendersonhawks.comor email Marcus at[email protected]or visitwww.abaliveaction.com.
