ABA FINAL EIGHT HEADS TO AUSTIN TX

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that this year’s Final Eight will be played in Austin TX and will be hosted by the Austin Bats. The Final Eight will be held in mid-April following a series of tournament games starting mid-March. “This year’s tournament will be bigger and better than ever,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman, ” because the ABA is bigger and better than ever with nearly 120 teams competing for the ABA Championship. Modeled after the single elimination NCAA Tournament , we anticipate 32-64 of our teams will be eligible.”

As in previous seasons, the #1 team in the ABA Power Rankings will get an automatic bye; the host team (Austin Bats) will be guaranteed “play-in game” the evening prior to the start of the Final Eight. The Jacksonville Giants are the defending ABA Champions and will be ranked #1 in the Pre-Season ABA Power Rankings.

“Not only have the Austin Bats been one of the highest ranked ABA teams on the court for the last couple of years,” added Newman. “But they have been one of the best run organizations in the league. Leticia Luna and her staff do an outstanding job and we anticipate a spectacular Final Eight. Full details will be posted regularly.
