FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

PHILADELPHIA HAS A NEW PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-September 9, 2016-“There is a lot of potential professional basketball talent in the Philadelphia Area and we are providing another avenue for players to pursue careers while simultaneously providing quality, affordable entertainment,” said Roger Beckwith, CEO of the Philly Cannons. Set to begin play in the American Basketball Association (ABA) for the 2016-2017 season, the Philly Cannons will play 11 home games at West Catholic Preparatory High School.

“The old ABA of Doctor J and Moses Malone is back and we are trying to connect that history with exciting prospects for the future,” said Beckwith. The Cannons played four exhibition games this summer and now will concentrate on the 22 game ABA schedule. Tryouts will take place later this month and then practice will ensue in preparation for the season opener on the road October 29th versus the Elmira Eagles.

The ABA consists of over 100 teams nationwide, and the Cannons will compete in the Chesapeake Division with the Baltimore Hawks, Trenton Cagers, DMV Warriors, Prince George County Valor, York Buccaneers, Atlantic City Aces, Reading Wizards, Steel City Yellow Jackets, and the Salisbury Bulldogs.
