ABA ADDS GREENSBORO COUGARS TO EXPANSION TEAMS
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Greensboro Cougars have been added to the league next season. “This is the first of many new teams that we will be announcing as part of our largest expansion in history,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “The ABA has made such great strides this season with its new ABA Standards and Requirements, ABA Code of Conduct and 805 Stat program that we are receiving a record number of inquiries from possible new teams. And we are very pleased to welcome Hiram Gardner as a new owner.”
Hiram Girald Gardner ios a U.S. Navy Veteran, a former point guard at the Naval School of Health Sciences and Southern Vermont College and will serve as Owner/General Manager of the team. He is currently an area event planner, a USBA Basketball Area Director and a high school and professional basketball official. In addition, Mr. Gardneer operates the North Carolina Flight Youth Athletic Association, is a Memberf of the Triad Basketball Officials Association and a Hayes Taylor YMCA volunteer.”
“This is something I’ve really wanted to do for quite sometime,” added Gardner. “There’s no doubt that North Carolina has extraordinary basketball talent available,” and we believe that Greensboro will be a tremendous ABA market. We are looking forward to the challenge.”
