Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today named Cleveland Phelps as the Vice President of Central Region Development. Phelps is the owner of the West Texas Whirlwinds.
“The ABA has just announced Focus on Expansion (FOE), a program designed to increase dramatically the number of teams in the league,” stated ABA Co-Founder Joe Newman. “Along with Monica Belanger, VP of East Region Development and Don Sanchez, VP of West Region Development, Cleveland will be working directly with new teams on all areas of operations, business management, ABA Standards & Requirements to help increase and insure their success on and off the court.”
“Sometimes people chase their dreams of owning a professional sports team not knowing all of the work required to make it successful and profitable,” added Phelps. “The ABA has the best business model in professional sports, bar none – and now, along with Monica and Don, we will make sure that new teams get the hands-on help they need to achieve maximum success. We are certainly excited about the challenge.”
