Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Springfield Sting was sold to Bill and Nichole Bullock, owners of Bulldog Enterprises, a direct marketing company and the Markets of Eastfield, a weekend market place inside the Eastfield Mall in Springfield MA. “Bill and Nichole are tremendous new owners,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “They have the experience and background to have one of the best teams in the ABA.”
Bullock has a sports marketing background working with teams such as NBA’s Detroit Pistons, the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning, many minor league teams and has also previously owned a professional basketball team.
“We have a lot of exciting things in motion to really make this team something special for the community,” added Bullock. “We will be starting in the 2019 season and are going to take the next year to do a lot of good for the community. We are planning on scheduling charity games with all ticket proceeds going to the charity. One game will include a current ABA team coming in to showcase what the 2019 season will have in store.”
The Zombies will be playing their home games at the South End Community Center on Marble Street in Springfield. The venue can fit about 500 fans and will also be the home for tryouts that will be announced later.
There will be some familiar faces with the Zombies. Head Coach Brian Stasaitis will be staying on and will be sitting down with the Bullocks to go over the roster and meet with the former players. “I am excited and honored to be able to continue to serve as Head Coach,” said Coach Stasaitis. “This organization is going to provide a competitive basketball team with an entertaining experience.”
