Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that St. Louis, MO has been chosen as the site for the 2018-2019 Final 8 Tournament to be held April 4-7, 2019. “We are very excited to be going to St. Louis, the home of the Spirits of St. Louis, one of the original ABA teams and now the home of the St. Louis Spirits, one of our current teams,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “St. Louis is an incredible city with some of the nation’s most avid sports fans. It should be a great tournament.”
The Final 8 Tournament is being hosted by Damon Cannon, St. Louis Spirits owner. “It is rare that we put the Finals in a city with only one year’s ABA experience,” added Newman. “But Damon and his people did such an outstanding job in their first season that we felt confident that he could make it a great ABA event.”
“I really am honored to have been chosen,” stated Cannon. “There were several other teams that bid for the tournament and it is a testimony to our
organization and city that we were chosen. Having the playoffs in the “heart of America” is very special also and I know that the people of St. Louis will show that this was a wise decision. We are looking forward to it.”
