ABA ANNOUNCES THE FINAL EIGHT
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the ABA Championship Series, the Final Eight, will be held March 29th to April 2nd in Baltimore, MD. The series will feature the top surviving eight teams following three weeks of play-in rounds and for the first time in several years, will be a sudden death tournament similar to the NFL and NCAA format.
The event will be hosted by the Baltimore Hawks which will receive a bye and which will play the #8 team in Baltimore for the final spot. The #1 team in the final ABA Power Rankings will receive an automatic bye to the finals. "We are very excited to be hosting the Final Eight," stated Baltimore Hawks owner, Greg Brown. "We hosted the ABA All Star Game last year, the league was impressed with the way that event was handled and awarded us this year's tournament. I want to add that Andre Vaughn, owner of the DMV Warriors and currently the #1 team in the Power Rankings has been exceptionally helpful in putting together what will be a stellar event.
"We are very excited about this year's tournament," stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. "There are so many excellent teams this year, including the defending ABA Champion Jacksonville Giants. I don't think there will be a clear cut favorite this year."
The Final Eight will be played at the Woodlawn Gymnasium, 1801 Woodlawn Drive, Baltimore, MD.
Ticket prices will be General Admission ($20), Courtside Seats ($40), Tournament Pass: ($50). There are only 2000 seats available.
