BA ADDS VIRGINIA STORM TO EXPANSION TEAMS
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added the Virginia Storm to its roster of teams set to begin the 50th Anniversary of the league in November. The Storm will be the 100th team in the league, “and we still have several more to announce,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “While the Storm is new to the ABA, this is not a new team having competed at the professional level since 2010. A super experienced team and organization, we have no doubt that they’ll be a very special addition to the league.”
The team is owned by Norman Blowe, Jr. and Mardesky Blowe, the parents of 5 children and 4 grandchildren. Norman is a previous nurse and Bleeding Disorders Specialist; Mardesky is a former Pharmacy Liason.
“A Storm is Brewing,” stated Blowe. “Our goal has been to help give young men the opportunity to continue their basketball careers by providing a foundation for professional advancement as well as to provide a positive entity for the community.”
“We’ve incorporated a Semi-Pro Dance team, the “Stormettes,” added Mrs. Blowe. “These ladies provide our fans with the ultimate game experience as well as to support the community with fund raising and fun family events. Now in the ABA, we are ready to expand the Storm team, the Stormettes and the organizations vision. We are really looking forward to becoming an important part of the ABA family.
