OXNARD ORCAS LATEST ABA EXPANSION TEAM
The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Oxnard Orcas are the latest expansion team getting set to begin play in November. “This has certainly been an unusual start to the off season for all sport leagues and the ABA is no exception,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “However, we have continued to add teams at a record pace and have confidence our season will begin as planned. Located just north of Los Angeles, Oxnard is a perfect fit for the southern division of the Far West Region and will be playing teams both north and south.”
The team will be owned by SFC Farron D. Dozier, a retired 24-year US Army veteran. Sgt Dozier currently has a popular radio show built around sports in the LA area as well as discussing
chronic diseases. A graduate of the Radio & TV Academy, he created the not-for-profit “Whatz Da Count on Sickle Cell Trait Prevention and was Creator/Curriculum Writer of the Sickle Cell Traits Course at San Bernadino Valley Community College. “I’m really pleased to be a part of the ABA,” added Sgt. Dozier. “Not only will we provide the area with great basketball, but it will give us a platform to create awareness of chronic diseases including Sickle Cell Anemia.”
Be careful. Be safe all.
