Indianapolis, IN.
The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that Harold Whaley has been named President/COO of ABA Sports Realty Group (ASRG), a division of the ABA whose mission is to remodel and retro fit empty warehouses, empty big box stores, empty shopping centers, empty warehouses and distribution centers into 2500-seat all purpose arenas that will include facilities for basketball and other sports and entertainment as well as e-sports and gaming, concessions, fitness centers. “According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, “our goal is to build between 10-20 over the next 2 years and as many 200 in the years to come – and I couldn’t have found a better person than Harold Whaley to oversee this very ambitious project.”
Harold Whaley is an award winning military veteran who has withstood an illustrious career in the entertainment industry as a recording artist. As the Program Director of Urban Network’s online radio station, he was instrumental in helping to launch the careers of artists like Destiny’s Child, Ray J, Mary Mary, Snoop Dogg and others. He is an international speaker and educator with extensive ties in the music, film and sports industry and is currently working as an Executive Producer on the biopic of the infamous leader of DeathRow Records, Marion Suge Knight. He is also VP of Strategic Planning for the ABA and was featured in the book “Distinguished Oklahomans.” He holds a partnership with Mexico-based Tequila company, Elevate, which has offices in Jalisco MX and Palm Springs CA.
“This is quite a challenge,” stated Whaley. “Ray Kroc recognized the potential of real estate as being critical to the success of McDonalds. As the largest professional sports league in the US with over 175 teams dependent upon colleges, high schools and civic centers for our games, it is about time our ABA teams had their own venues and are able to reap the benefits of concerts, wrestling, MMA, roller derby and other events. Long overdue.”
