DELCO DESPERADOS LATEST ABA EXPANSION TEAM
The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Delco Desperados, located in the Philadelphia area, are the latest of the league’s record-setting expansion teams for the 2020-2021 season. “We are extremely pleased to have Community Activist, Educator and Financial Specialist Kinji R. W. Ridley as part of the ABA,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “His passion and vision for wanting the best for his neighbors and neighborhood is what drives him, and the ABA is the perfect complement to the great programs he provides for his area.”
After high school in West Philadelphia, Kinji attended Howard University on a full academic scholarship majoring in Allied Health and Business and returned to Philly to begin a career in finance. In 2003 he relocated to Hampton Roads VA and began an entrepreneurial venture, Old Dominion Financing and also became involved with helping at-risk youth before becoming Recruitment and Placement Coordinator for Tidewater Community College. In 2014 he returned to Philadelphia and opened Community Solutions Financial that has provided over 15,000 people with free groceries and hosted over 10 community events and festivals. He has received his BS in Management and Leadership from Bluefield College, his Master’s in Business Administration from Strayer University and now brings his knowledge and expertise in finance, nonprofits to help support many various community organizations in West Philadelphia to help improve the quality of life for the people there. “I am really excited about this ABA opportunity,” added Ridley. “The team will become one of the focal points of the many programs we provide for our neighbors; exciting professional basketball and entertainment at very affordable prices. We’re looking forward to the challenge.”
