ABA ANNOUNCESSPRING/SUMMER SHOOTOUTS
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced a new initiative, the ABA Spring/Summer Shootouts, a series of prize money basketball tournaments scheduled to begin in early June, with the first ones in the New York metro area. The initiative will be under the direction of Daniel Jacob, owner of the ABA Harlem Underdogs, who will serve as CEO and Tournament Director. “Having a basketball presence during the spring and summer months has been a long-standing objective of the ABA,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “We believe this prize money tournament format has great potential and that Danny is the right person to put it together, first in NY and then across the country.”
“Our plan is to have 4-8 teams compete over a weekend, with games both indoors and outdoors and we will use the ABA’s
First to Fifty Format and guarantee each team at least 3 games,” added Jacob. “Each team will pay an entry fee to play, with the winner being awarded prize money as well as a trophy. We’re calling this the “War on the Floor.”
The ABA Spring/Summer Shootouts will provide some residual benefits including a chance to evaluate players and keeping players active during the off season. Games and highlights will be shown on Zingo TV providing worldwide exposure for the teams and players. For more information and complete details, including dates, locations, times and how to enter a team or have a tournament, contact Daniel Jacob at[email protected]or visitwww.abaliveaction.com.
