Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Owensboro KY team has moved to Evansville IN and renamed the Evansville DunKerz. “Owensboro is a good city,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “But there have been lingering venue issues and it was felt that a move early in the new season was the wisest thing to do.” In addition, there has been a change in majority ownership with William and Kaileen Forrest, natives of Evansville, assuming control. Tjuan “Benefactor” Washington, owner of several ABA teams,
will maintain part ownership and serve as Senior Advisor to the team. William has been serving as GM of the team.
“We have a lot to do and not that much time to do it,” stated Forrest. “But the City of Evansville, and the press/media have been very supportive and we are deeply appreciative of how they have accepted us. Evansville is a great basketball city, most of our core players are from around here, we will be competitive on and off the court.
