Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added the Westmoreland Warriors in Greensburg PA to its growing list of expansion teams for the 2018-2019 season. “We’re very pleased to have the Warriors as part of the ABA,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “We’ve needed a team in Western Pennsylvania and can see a great rivalry developing between them and the Steel City Yellow Jackets in Pittsburgh, about 40 miles away.”
The team will be co-owned by Tjuan “Benafactor” Washington, ABA CEO of Media and Entertainment and multiple ABA team owner and Julian Thompson, an ABA player currently with the West Virginia Warlocks. “I’m very excited to be teaming up with Tjuan,” added Thompson. “I’ve seen what it takes to be a great ABA team on and off the court and know that together we’ll make the Warriors one of the premier ABA teams in both. I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”
“Several ABA players have extended their basketball careers with ABA team ownership,” stated Washington. “This is a league of opportunity and inclusion and I am happy to be able to help
ABA players achieve their dreams of ownership as an extention of their basketball careers.”
