ABA OPENING NIGHT – TEXAS RELIEF
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it will dedicate opening night for the 2017-2018 season as ABA Opening Night – Texas Relief, a fund-raising program to help those in need from the devasting aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. According to Co-Chairman Leticia Luna (Austin Bats), “recovery from Harvey is not a one-night problem; it will take months, even years, to bring Southeast Texas back to normal. With 100+ ABA teams working together, we believe we can raise considerable funds to help improve the lives of so many in need.”
“The approach we are taking is to use a variety of promotions to raise funds to buy gift certificates from companies and distribute the gift certificates through major Texas not-for-profit organizations,” added Larry Leonard II, (Houston Red Storm). “We’ll be buying gift certificates from stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Walmart, CVS, Ace Hardware, Walgreens, Krogers, Amazon, etc.”
