ABA ADDS LA CROSSE SHOWTIME TO 2017 EXPANSION TEAMS
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced the La Crosse Showtime to its growing list of expansion teams for the 2017 season. “We are very excited to welcome Scott Pooler and his team to the ABA,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “The city of La Crosse is a wonderful sports town and a great supporter of its local teams.”
“I am thrilled for this opportunity to bring the game of basketball back to the city of La Crosse where we can provide a fun, fast paced, family friendly and affordable entertainment that can’t be matched by any other professional sporting event,” added Pooler. “I love what the ABA is doing for basketball fans; it is a league that cares about the communities they represent as well as the owners, players, coaches, and personnel that make up the entire ABA family.”
A military veteran, Pooler has lived in or near the La Crosse area for the past 32 years and is a graduate of Capella University. He has worked in the IT field for the past 14 years and currently works for the Gale-Ettrick Trempealeau School District. A father of six, he has also been very active in the basketball programs at Blair-Taylor coaching the girls middle school program for the last three years and other youth programs for 19 years including AAU boys and girls for 17 years.
The ABA is the largest professional sports league in the US with over 100 teams and is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. It is also the most diversified professional sports league in the US with over 75% of its teams owned by African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, women, Native Americans and disabled.
