ABA ADDS DEAF PROFESSIONAL TEAM
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added the Texas “ATX” Warriors to its huge expansion for the upcoming season. The team will be based in Austin, TX. “I cannot tell you how excited we are to add the Warriors to our roster of teams,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “In a league where diversification and inclusion reign, it is fitting that the ABA adds a team made up of excellent players who also happen to be hearing impaired. As was recently shown on “Dancing with the Stars,” there is no limit to what people can do when they put their hearts to it.”
Jose Amador is the Co-Executive Chairman and Head Coach of the Warriors that were founded in 2014. He serves on the Southwest Basketball Association of the Deaf (SWBAD) Board of Executives for the four year. His record as a head coach is outstanding and he has won several championships. A graduate from the Texas School for the Deaf, he attended Kingwood College and has been involved with many organizations in high school and college playing football, basketball,m tennis, track, sand volleyball and baseball and was 4 times football National Deaf Prep Champions.
Dwight Brewington is Co-Executive Chairman/Assistant Coach and player. He was the founder of Active Skills Basketball Training in Boston MA and has helped over 40 players into prep school, and college. Brewington was MVP in regional tournaments including the New England Athletic Association of the Deaf and Southwest Basketball Association of the Deaf and will be playing in his first season with the Warriors. He also played 8 yhears on pro leagues in Israel, Mexico,Slovakia, Canada, NBA D-League and the ABA.
