ABA ADDS RDC VULCANS
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it as added the RDC Vulcans to its record-setting list of expansion teams starting in November. Located in Raleigh, NC, the Vulcans is a community-based organization dedicated to providing outstanding basketball entertainment as well as an opportunity for local basketball players to obtain national recognition through development, enlightenment and exposure.
The team is co-owned by Tullettia “Tee” Taylor and Chaun Ferguson. “I began my love of basketball at the tender age of 2,” stated Ms. Taylor. “I remember walking and dribbling with my father’s voice giving detailed coaching instructions in the background.” An athlete in high school and college, her athletic career ended early due to injuries. She then initiated several viable community organizations including the Philadelphia Christian Basketball League for city youth, Cherry Hill Cheerleading Program and numerous community and outreach programs as well as being the Coordinator and Principal for The Academy of Fitness, Health Promotion and Sports Education at Benjamin Franklin High School in Philadelphia. “Chaun and I share the same drive, dream and aspirations,” added Taylor. “Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill is an untapped area with lots of sports potential. We are looking forward to bringing our concept and team into a community rich with athletic ability and fans eager to enjoy the movement. We are excited about our inaugural season concurring with the ABA’s 50th Anniversary. Ms. Taylor is currently a Physics teacher in the Wake County School District.
Chaun Ferguson’s love of sports and business acumen made owning a sports team a good fit when the opportunity presented itself. “I am doing this to bring more sports opportunities to potential players and to tap into the existing fan base in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and surrounding areas,” stated Ferguson. Like Ms. Taylor, injuries interrupted a promising athletic career. “Later blessed with the birth of my son, I used this opportunity to coach him to be a better athlete then me, and I plan to use this experience to give back to the RDC community.”
