Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added a team in Los Angeles CA called the LA Palms. “This is a major addition to our SoCal Division,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. “And it should be one of our most exciting teams as it truly will combine entertainment with basketball. Great ownership group.
The team owners include Tjuan Benefactor, CEO of ABA Media & Entertainment as well as a hip hop artist, along with Darnell Van Rensalier, lead singer of the legendary R & B group Shai and former Howard University alum and Garfield Bright, also a member of Shai, an educator, Howard alum who is currently working on his PhD in educational policies at Georgia State where he received his masters in African American studies.
Music lovers will remember that Shai’s first album went double platinum and “If I Ever Fall in Love” reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. “We are very exciting abut this opportunity,” added Darnell. “I know that our games will be exciting and competitive and the entertainment will make the experience even more special.
