FAIRMONT – The West Virginia Wildcatz got off to a good start in their first game ever as a professional team in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as they defeated the Steel City Yellow Jackets 130-75 Sunday at the Falcon Center on the shared campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College.
With fans both sitting courtside and observing from above at the Falcon Center, the Wildcatz got off to a quick start against a Yellow Jackets squad that was missing many of their key players.
With DJ Yemi playing music throughout the game, both during the action and during timeouts, the Wildcatz came out firing behind forwards Jonathan Logan and Julian Thompson.
In the first half, Logan, a Fairmont Senior graduate who played his college basketball at Edinboro, had his team clicking in all facets of the game.
